Endotracheal Intubation using Capnography in Rabbits

Abstract

|
|
A safe and reliable technique for the endotradcheal intubation of rabbits is described. By using the capnography, it is rapid and correct to distinguish sharply esophageal from tracheal intubation. The tip of the endotracheal tube can be placed precisely over the glottis. When the tube is inserted into the trachea, the intubated position can be ascertained by CO₂ waveform of capnography. But, failures of intubation are immediately apparent by diappearanee of CO₂ waveform. This is the most reliable method for verification of tracheal intubation.
